Since 1956, hospitality has been at the heart of La Maison Régent. More than just a place to stay, it is a family story where each generation has infused its passion and energy to create a unique place.
🌊 Deeply Rooted in the Côte d’Amour
It all began in 1956, when Mr. and Mrs. Mainguet, Hervé’s grandparents, acquired a family guesthouse facing the ocean. At that time, paid vacations were transforming tourism, and the guesthouse became a sought-after destination for vacationers looking to unwind from June to September.
Their son Henri and his wife Denise joined the venture, splitting their time between Nantes and Pornichet. During the summers, they managed the guesthouse, turning it into a true haven of warmth and authenticity. This is where Hervé and Isabelle grew up, immersed in the lively summer seasons and the laughter of vacationers.
🛎️ The Third Generation: A Passion Evolves
In 1992, after the passing of his father, Hervé, then 22 years old, took over the establishment, armed with his degree in hospitality management and unwavering determination. He set out to modernize the hotel:

✅ Achieved 2-star classification
✅ Opened a restaurant and a terrace
✅ Extended the operating season from Easter to All Saints' Day
From 1998 to 2003, he and his partner Sophie simultaneously managed a campsite, expanding their experience in the tourism industry.

Over time, Hervé and Sophie continued to evolve the establishment with passion and boldness:

🍽️ Launched the bistronomic restaurant "Grain de Folie"
🧖 Opened a spa in 2008
🏡 Fully renovated the 23 rooms
In 2009, the Mainguet family purchased a second establishment in Pornichet, La Villa Flornoy, which they fully renovated, adding a swimming pool and a restaurant "Le Secret", before selling it in 2020.

After decades in traditional hospitality, Sophie and Hervé reinvented their establishment, transforming a 3-star hotel with a restaurant into a high-end guesthouse, providing autonomy, comfort, and personalized services.

The pandemic reshaped travel habits, accelerating an already emerging trend:

✔️ Longer and more flexible stays, accommodating new work lifestyles (remote work, digital nomadism).
✔️ A desire for comfort and modern amenities, feeling at home, but by the ocean.
Understanding these changes, Sophie and Hervé made a bold decision: closing their restaurant "Grain de Folie" after a final family-run season in summer 2022, then selling the hotel in October to launch La Maison Régent in March 2023.
